Client: Office of the Burgenland Provincial Government, Department 4 – Agriculture, Nature and Climate Protection (Main Division for Nature Conservation, Landscape Management, and Agriculture)

Project Duration: 2023

Project Description:
TB Raab GmbH was commissioned by the Office of the Burgenland Provincial Government, Department 4 – Agriculture, Nature and Climate Protection (Main Division for Nature Conservation, Landscape Management, and Agriculture) to develop the management plan for the European protected area “Parndorfer Platte – Heideboden”.

The main tasks included compiling all available data on the current condition of the protected assets (protected bird species of the “Parndorfer Platte – Heideboden” Special Protection Area) and developing and presenting the conservation objectives (target populations of the protected species), along with measures to achieve these objectives. The management plan serves as a foundation for implementing specific conservation actions, for planning processes affecting the bird protection area, and for evaluating projects that could have an impact on the protected species.

The development of this management plan involved collaboration with Department 4 (Agriculture, Nature and Climate Protection; Main Division for Nature Conservation, Landscape Management, and Agriculture) and Department 2 (Regional Planning, Municipalities and Economy; Main Division for Regional Planning) of the Burgenland Provincial Government, relevant landowners, affected municipalities, the Burgenland Environmental Ombudsman, the Biological Station Neusiedler See, the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture, the Burgenland Hunting Association, and responsible persons from the affected fishing districts.
