We are delighted to share that Kurier has published a feature article on the Stone-curlew, one of Austria’s rarest and most endangered bird species, featuring insights from zoologist and Stone-curlew expert Rainer Raab.

During a field visit in the Marchfeld, Rainer Raab guided journalist Sandra Frank through one of the species’ key habitats and shared his extensive knowledge gained from more than 25 years of monitoring and conservation work. The article explores the biology of the Stone-curlew, its remarkable migration to Africa, and the challenges facing its conservation in Austria.

The feature also highlights the importance of science-based habitat management and long-term monitoring efforts to protect threatened species and biodiversity in the Marchfeld region.
