IV International Red Kite Symposium
From 29 January to 1 February 2026, the IV International Red Kite Symposium took place in Binaced (Huesca, Spain). The event was organized by the Municipality of Binaced/Valcarca, the Friends of the Vulture Fund (FAB), BirdWings, and Fundación Iberdrola España. The LIFE EUROKITE team was also present.
Binaced is one of the most important wintering areas for the Red Kite in Europe and has been a center of dedicated raptor conservation work for more than 40 years. The venue therefore highlighted the region’s key role in research and conservation efforts for this threatened species.
During the symposium, the LIFE EUROKITE team presented the project and shared current findings on the causes of mortality of the Red Kite in Europe. In addition, results from the European-wide winter census were presented, providing important data on population trends and distribution. The international conference offered a valuable platform for professional exchange on research results, conservation strategies, and future priorities in Red Kite conservation.
